Aker BioMarine is now taking the next step in the development of new krill products for the global protein market. We are looking for a Senior Scientist Product Development / R&D, Protein Human Nutrition - with excellent skills in protein chemistry to drive the development of new krill protein products for human consumption.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop fundamental chemical understanding of raw materials, intermediates and product compositions to drive development of krill protein products for human consumption
- Define and lead investigation into the influence of composition and structure on functionality in food product applications, including the development and evaluation of methods to measure and characterize the composition, structure and functionality.
- Build and utilize a network of external partners and, in the future internal capabilities in a product development lab at an AKBM owned launch plant. Define and specify the requirements and activities for internal and external development activities
- Collaborate closely with process engineering and launch plant staff on development activities
- Utilize knowledge to support regulatory and customer development processes
- Provide technical subject matter expertise internally and externally
- Plan and execute technical feasibility and proof-of-concept experiments at lab-scale
- Utilize structured development approach, e.g. design of experiments
- Maintain development data and documentation records
Role Requirements
- PhD or Master’s degree in life sciences, biochemistry, biomolecular science, chemistry, food science and/or related subjects
- 8+ years of relevant work experience, preferably a combination of fundamental research and applied research and development in food applications
- Excellent skills in protein chemistry, a fundamental understanding of protein composition, properties and structure, and a thorough understanding of how these influence the separation and purification as well as the functionality and rheology in food application
- Hands-on experience with protein chemistry / product development
- Skilled in executing structured development, e.g. design of experiments
- Experience developing protein products intended for human consumption
- Preferably hands-on experience with analytical methods for protein characterization
- Preferably familiar with food ingredient processing and quality standards
- Excellent oral and written English skills
